What’s in the box? A CG-Lock…

A neat little package arrived in the mail yesterday, and inside we found this:
You might have heard of it – it’s called the CG-Lock. A tiny piece of precision engineering that clamps on to your seatbelt buckle to order to restrain the belt’s movements.
But why?
Well, quite a few reasons. By holding the belt in place properly it keeps you, the driver, in place properly, and the theory goes the CG-Lock is good for everything from restraining child seats to improving hot laps on a circuit.
The latest press release even claims it can ease back pain by forcing you to maintain correct posture instead of slouching while driving – and it’s precisely this reason I’ve got one in to test. I have a duff back. If this can help make it better I’m all for it.
As you can see, the package consists of one CG-Lock, plus an allen key and three different sizes of bolt to accommodate different buckle girths.
Dan’s got one as well, so on Tuesday we’ll be testing another of the maker’s claims at a Renaultsport track day. ‘Faster laps – guaranteed!’ is the suggestion, with the company previously having seen a 1 second improvement in lap times over 1 minute 30 second lap. A gain it says would otherwise take an extra 50bhp.
Fire up the Clio, and let’s see…
